Creativity runs in my family. I have been doing art since I was young. However, I did less and less as I got older. I put too many rules on it. I compared my art to others and only saw where I fell short, not where I found joy. Why do art if it’s not my career? Is it only valuable if people want to buy it? I can only do art if… The limitations I set became brick walls. My inner artist only managed to break through sporadically and at great peril to my artistic soul.

I have come to understand that art is meant to be shared because it has its own soul, its own power. Art wants to be shared. Art is creation and creation is one of the beautiful powers and gifts of being human. Being able to create is a gift from God, and creating is my gift back to Him.
